CONSTRUCTION
In partnership with The Cutting Room we developed cost
effective
CNC machined tooling to give us maximum accuracy in the
boat’s
production.
Hull components of the OUT95 were constructed over a male
mould. Great
care was taken at all times to minimise ply overlap build ups so as to
minimise required fairing.
Secondary structural components were moulded, trimmed and
bonded
to the monocoque using Proset toughened structural adhesives, with a
controlled glue gap of between 0.5-1mm.
Spars and foils are from CNC machined female tools, these components
have required no fairing and the foils were silent from day one.
Vacuum integrity checks are made to all moulds prior to manufacturing
components. During cure, multiple thermocouples are monitored and data
logged to ensure the required cure profile is achieved on all sectors
of the part.
