SMART AWARD WINNER

TECHNOLOGY

Americas Cup, Aerospace and Formula One technology informed a lot of our development and composite techniques. Throughout  this project we have harnessed the latest technology to refine, verify and optimise the OUT95 including CAD, FEA, CNC machining, Tank testing, VPP analysis, calibrated NDT and DT.

The geometry of the OUT95 is not simple and the challenge was to create a lightweight but easily transportable boat. A modular construction allows the hull to be broken down into four components and a mast of 2-part sleeved construction facilitates transport via trailer or container.

Everywhere within the OUT95 we have striven to reduce weight, this has the spiral effect of reducing the input loads into the structure. The achieved displacement is less than 50 per cent of a Mumm 30.
